Before returning to Tokyo, we dropped in a cheesecake shop, still neat the Kachi Kachi Ropeway entrance. I just made cheesecake the previous night, so I didn’t want to buy any cheesecake there. 😛 I saw some cheesecake factory products there, which reminded me to the place where Penny works in The Big Bang Theory serial, haha. I just waited for other friends, until I saw Bintang and Tami bought ice cream. I was tempted, and finally I bought one, hehe. Here was the price: single size (one kind of ice cream of your choice) 350 yen, double size (two kinds of ice cream of your choice) 400 yen. By my simple logic, it’s better to buy the double size, haha. I chose double berry and chocochip flavor, Tami has bought matcha and Hokkaido creamcheese flavor, and we were happy trying four kinds of them. 😀 By the way I just realized that the name was gelato, and I never knew that gelato is the Italian word for ice cream, haha. I often saw “gelato” in Saizeriya’s menu and previously I thought it was something made by using gelatin. 😆
This was the second menu that Sre and I ordered. When visiting Mt. Fuji area, I think we should try houtou noodle (ほうとう). Hoto is a hearty hot pot dish (nabemono) local to Yamanashi Prefecture. I knew houtou from my trip to Fuji and Hakone on 2011. That time we learned how to make houtou. So when planning the trip to Kawaguchiko yesterday, I decided to ate houtou again, hoho. 美味しかったです. 😀
Yesterday some friends and I went to a day trip to Kawaguchiko. Finally I could go there and saw a perfect view of Mt. Fuji. In the afternoon, we had lunch at a houtou restaurant near the entrance to Kachi Kachi Ropeway. Instead of ordering one menu for one person, Sre and I decided to order two kinds of menu and shared them, hehe. This was the first menu. I never knew this dish. Sre said that it looks like nasi goreng. I ate it, wow, the rice was really tasty. I wondered how they make it so tasty because I didn’t see many seasoning there. Other friends guessed that it might be cooked by using butter. But I wasn’t really sure because the texture was similar to regular rice. Today I googled it and and found an explanation that pilaf is a dish in which rice is cooked in a seasoned broth. Now it makes sense, haha. I think someday I’ll cook it by myself. 😀
This is my today’s experiment, Japanese Cheesecake, Cotton Soft Cheesecake, Soufflé Cheesecake, or whatever you named it. Really fluffy and melted in your mouth. It’s my first time making this cheesecake style, and I’m really happy that it’s perfect and even didn’t shrink, kyaaa.. It’s also the first time for me to bake using bain-marie (or water bath or double boiler) technique. I love the texture and the taste since the cream cheese flavor is not too strong. I only made a half of the recipe, using my leftover cream cheese after making red velvet cupcakes several days ago. And I just obtain a small cake, 12 cm diameter. In less than 10 minutes, I ate 3/4 of the cake, haha.
You can find the recipe here.
I had two ripe bananas and banana muffins were the phrase that came to my mind to do with that bananas. Previously I read several banana muffin recipes that use egg. Then I thought that if I used that recipe, I would get many muffins although I used only one egg (not in mood to eat many muffins by myself). If I made only a half of the recipe, I should also use a half of egg. I didn’t want to do that, so I searched the eggless one. In my opinion, the eggless cake recipe is really appropriate if you want to make only small amount of the cake. Like I did here, I only made 1/3 of the recipe and obtained 4 small muffins. 😛 Those muffins were not sweet for me, but they’re really nice to be accompanied by sweet drink.
You can find the recipe here.
Yesterday I met Fine a.k.a Pipin and her super cute daughter, Hikari-chan. We went to Anpanman Museum in Yokohama. Before going home, I had dinner at Kebab Cafe Shibuya since I didn’t have any food at home. 😛 That was my second time ordering “big size” menu (last year I ordered Kofte). Well, I was really hungry, hehe. As far as I know, a Doner kebab are usually served wrapped in a flatbread or as a sandwich instead of being served on a plate. But this one was served on plate, plus they added rice there.
Before leaving, Hicha gave me this Tokyo Banana’s product, the strawberry cake from Ginza, as written there. Although I’ve been 3 years living in Tokyo, it’s my first time trying Tokyo Banana, haha. It’s really delicious. The cake was soft, and there were strawberry cream and custard cream inside the cake. By the way, for moslems, please be careful when buying Tokyo Banana’s products. We can’t eat all of the products. Some of them contains wine or gelatin. You can check the お土産 (=omiyage) you can consume here.
Hicha from Kobe stayed in my apartment during her trip to Tokyo. Yesterday was her last day in Tokyo. I couldn’t accompany her yesterday since I had trip with another friends. Even I left my apartment before Hicha went out, hehe. She backed to Kobe from Shinjuku by bus on 10.20 pm, and since I arrived at Shinjuku on 9 pm, I decided to meet her. The first question she asked: “is there any restaurant around here?” Haha. Then I brought her to Siddique Shinjuku. She ordered tandoori chicken and rice. Since I’was still full after having dinner at Yumean, I only ordered this dessert. I don’t know the ingredients of this dessert, even I can’t find it on Google, haha. I guess it contained mango, cream, and sugar. I like mango but this dessert taste was too sweet for me.
Our trip ended at Enoshima and we decided to have dinner at 夢庵 (=Yumean) at Enoshima. That was my second time eating there and I ordered this menu. It contained tempura, tuna mayo salad, miso soup, and rice. I always like Japanese tempura and this tempura batter was really crispy. The tuna mayo salad was also delicious. With 1,046 yen price, of course this menu was much better than my previous tempura udon at Kamakura.
Yesterday I had trip to Jogashima, Kamakura, and Enoshima at Kanagawa Prefecture with some Waseda’s friends. We had lunch at Kamakura. Since we wanted to get food as soon as possible, we ate at soba/udon restaurant across the Kamakura Great Buddha entrance. I ordered this, the price was 1,260 yen. It’s the most expensive udon I’ve ever eaten -_-” And the taste was not the best for me.
