Bismillahirrahmanirrahim…
It has been 2 years and 3 months since the last post of this blog. Sooo many things happened that made me neglect this blog. (Or let’s say that I was very lazy, haha).
I plan to update this blog again. But let me tell you some major updates in my life while this blog was abandoned. 😀
- I’m married! The wedding was on January 9th, 2014. Then I moved to Balikpapan to live with my husband. I cooked almost everyday for my husband, sometimes I took some pictures of the food especially when I tried new recipe. But then I didn’t post them here, haha.
- I’m a mom of a cute baby boy! My son was born on June 19th, 2015. Since I have baby, I seldom cook, haha. It’s really difficult for me to have good time for cooking since I take care my baby all by myself.
- Last month, my baby started having solid foods! And I plan to prepare homemade baby foods everyday for my baby. I am really excited now. Therefore, I think I’ll post my baby foods here so that this blog will not be neglected again, hehe.
Another thing, since married, I managed other blog, evan.reisha.net. It contains many stories about our wedding preparations, wedding days, our traveling stories, out life after wedding, my first pregnancy, etc. But all in Bahasa Indonesia :P.
And for my baby foods posts, I would like to write them also in Bahasa Indonesia. Better be like that. ^^v But for other foods I’ll still use English. 😀
OK then. See you!
Throwback July 24th again. What can you do with papaya? This is one alternative and I like it. Papaya has many different names in Indonesia, even Minangkabau people has several names for it. In my hometown, papaya is called kalikih. So kalikih santan is papaya served with santan (coconut milk). During Ramadhan, it’s usually served for breaking the fast. I found UHT coconut milk here, so it’s easier to make it. Since the coconut milk was too thick, I added some hot water into it. I also added a pinch of salt because I like it a little bit salty. Then pour the coconut milk to papaya. For the papaya, you can cut it into bite size pieces, or just scoop it with spoon. You can add ice if you like it cold. 😀
Throwback July 24th. That day I really wanted to eat papaya (in Indonesia we called it pepaya). The main reason was because it’s really good for the digestive system. 😆 Here is Indonesia, the paradise of tropical fruits. The fruits are really cheap here, not like in Japan, haha. Papaya is only about IDR7,000/kg here.
Throwback July 22nd. This was my first cooking in Bandung, haha. I know, I know it wasn’t appealing, lack of color, even lack of seasoning, haha. Here is its behind the scene. A work colleague has mushroom cultivation. One day, we talk about jamur crispy (crispy mushroom) in the office and he said he would bring the mushroom sample for us. Several days later, he brought the mushroom. I thought it was the jamur crispy which were ready to eat. But in fact, he brought fresh mushroom. 🙄 No way, I should cook, after almost 4 months without cooking. 😡 So after work I went to supermarket to but some ingredients and seasonings. I bought bakso (meatball) and just stir fry them with salt and pepper. And that’s the result, haha. I know I should have added green veggie and chili pepper to make it better, but you know, I was really lazy now, not like when I lived in Japan. 😆
Throwback July 20th. I tried another restaurant in Jalan Riau. I’m sorry I already forget the name. 😛 This was the beverage I ordered that time. I love green tea and green tea will always remind me of Japan. Unfortunately, I can’t really taste the green tea in it. But I understand, green tea is expensive here, haha. Beside that, the milk was too much and too sweet for me. I also ordered Korean style ramen, but I also forget what it’s called there. The ramen was not so special, I felt it’s just like instant noodle with veggies, egg, kimchi, and spicy soup. You can cook it by yourself, haha..
Throwback July 19th. I was recommended to try steak at Karnivor, one restaurant on Jalan Riau, Bandung. The restaurant has tagline: Let’s Meet Our Meat! Of course, meat is the main menu there. I ordered Mix Grill Karnivor. It contained three kinds of meat: grilled chicken breast, terderloin, dan bratwurst. Enak!
Throwback June 6th again. From Ciwidey, we went to Bukit Moko, at eastern part of Bandung. Bukit Moko is the highest point in Bandung, and it has very beautiful night view. I have seen several Bandung night view from different spots and I can say that Bukit Moko is the best in Bandung! Up there, there is one cafe called Warung Daweung. I wasn’t really hungry so I just ordered this pisgor a.k.a pisang goreng (fried banana), served with mix of sugar and palm sugar, plus keju (cheese). It was the most delicious pisang goreng I’ve ever tried. No, I don’t exaggerate. Even I ordered one more because one portion is not enough, haha. Previously, my friend said that this menu was called pisang goreng berpasir (fried banana with “sand”). Yeah, the texture of sugar and palm sugar are really similar to sand. 😀
Oh my God, 4 months without any update 😡 Since I returned to Indonesia, I almost never cooked anymore. It’s really easy to obtain halal foods here, and they’re cheap. I guess my laziness in cooking and my laziness in updating this blog are directly proportional. I’ll just post some old photos I should have posted months ago. Throwback June 6th. That day my Plurkers friends and I went for a day trip to Ciwidey. It’s located on the south of Bandung. After visiting Kawah Putih and Situ Patengan, we had lunch at Saung Gawir restaurant. I ordered Nasi Belang Komplit + Teh Botol. It consisted of three kinds of rice, served with pepes ayam, tahu, tempe, and vegetables. My friends order Ikan Gurame Goreng Cirambay, fried fish served with hot sauce and strawberry (Ciwidey is famous with its strawberry). Actually it wasn’t listed on the menu because it was very very hot and spicy that could get you stomach ache. So only few people know and order that menu. I’ve tried it, and I couldn’t eat it 😯 The other photos are otak-otak (a kind of fish cake) and fish soup.
Last Saturday I met Anis and Arinta, my college friends. It took long time for us to decide where we would eat since everyone said terserah (it’s up to you ). Finally we decided to have lunch at Giggle Box cafe & resto in Bandung Indah Plaza. I ordered this menu because it’s the only menu that had rice, CMIIW. I was really hungry so I wanted rice, haha. Well, for me this menu was not so tasty. I mean I cannot really taste the seasonings. 😛
